Alone | Cat Portraits | Project 52 | Week 12

Cat Portraits, Kleinmond Animal Welfare Society, Ilze Louw Photography, OverbergThis week is David’s birthday, and for his birthday he wanted us to take the Kleinmond Animal Welfare Society’s (KAWS) dogs for a walk on the beach.

We were a bit too late in the afternoon for that, so decided to visit the cats instead.

I’m dedicating week 12 of my project 52 to KAWS, what they do there every day for all these beautiful animals is just so awesome.  They’re dependent on donations and volunteers to feed them, take them for walks, visit them and just help them out in any way.  It’s also an adoption centre so if you want to adopt a beautiful kitty or cool dog, have a look at their website for more information.

I always wondered why somebody doesn’t do something about that.  Then I realised I was somebody.  ~Lily Tomlin

I had my camera with me and took some beautiful cat portraits.  It was easy, cats sit still for long.

I’m a cat person, I love cats.  I love dogs too, but cats are just different.  They’re watching you from their point of view, sizing you up almost, but when you start scratching their heads and show attention they either like you immediately and will start to purr or rub against you, or just walk away from you.  They’re unpredictable and own the room, and I kind of like that.  Like they don’t take any nonsense from anyone.

But most of all, they are beautiful creatures, graceful and poised.  And like any other animal, they just need love!

So for week 12 I have 12 cat portraits!  Enjoy the cat faces.
