Herman is a farm boy from Vryburg, North West, in South Africa. Elsa is a girl from Wellington in the Boland. They both went to Potchefstroom University and it’s there that their love story began…
They met just before Herman graduated and while he was already almost on his way to Cape Town for work.
Elsa was still busy with her studies, two more years to go by that time, so they went their separate ways, but kept contact.
Then Elsa went home one holiday and they met up again. A year later Elsa moved to where her heart was, the Cape… And Herman!
In December they borth went to Herman’s family’s farm.
One evening he took her for a picnic and to watch the sunset. He got his harmonica out, that he learnt to play in two weeks’ time, and started playing ‘Suikerbossie’ (a very well known Afrikaans love song)… Elsa then realised what was happening and burst out in tears from joy!
She said yes, and in October they’re getting married.
I know Elsa through my sister, so when she asked if I can take their engagement photos while we’re on holiday in South Africa, I was super excited and honoured!
We met up in Paarl, at Bean in Love coffee shop, and started out with the shoot there. It’s a beautiful coffee shop, and I love the lifestyle feel it brings to the photos. Afterwards we went into the streets of Paarl for some more photos.
You can SEE and FEEL their love for each other in these photos! I love it!!!
