Bread, yum, recipe, project 52, week 11For week 11 of my project 52 I’m bringing you a recipe, the easiest bread recipe you’ll ever make!

I don’t like complicated stuff and if something is complicated I’ll find a way to make it easier or totally uncomplicated.  And if it can’t be made easier I’ll probably won’t do it again…  And this is especially true for making food!

So, when one of my good friends, Cari, gave me this recipe I didn’t believe that there is only 3 ingredients in it, much less that you just mix everything together, throw it in a pan and bake it.  So I HAD to try it!  Because to me, bread is a difficult and complicated thing to make…

All you need is:

  1. 500g self raising flour
  2. 500ml buttermilk (and if you don’t have buttermilk, make your own by putting lemon juice or vinegar with 500ml milk until it’s thickish)
  3. 1 packet of soup powder (I like to use white onion soup or brown onion soup)

That is it!

You mix everything together, put it in a bread pan (remember to grease the pan with olive oil, butter or cook and spray), and bake at 180°C for about 30min.

This bread goes very well with a braai, home made soup or just on its own.  But in my opinion it is best warm with real butter and a cup of tea.  I’m a tea person!

You can also make it in a muffin pan and eat it as savoury breakfast muffins.
