Self Portrait | Still | Project 52 | Week 2

Project 52, Week 2, Self Portrait, StillSooo, look what I’ve been up to for project 52, week 2…

A self portrait!

This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time, but always put off, because I thought it must be very difficult and so on…

It is not!  It does take some practice, a lot of it, and some patience too (to get this one perfect shot took me an hour), but the result is something so different.  Different because it is actually a photo of YOURSELF you’re editing and looking at.

I took this photo right here in our tiny apartment on the kitchen floor.  The light from the side came from my iPad (yes, really, cool right?) and the overhead lights were turned off.  I put my camera on a tripod and used an old scarf to focus on.  Then I switched the autofocus off and tried to position myself (my hand actually, the thing I wanted to have in focus) in more or less the same spot as where the camera focused and used the remote to take the shot.

I loved this week’s self portrait project.  I had this idea in my head of how I wanted the photo to look like and then it turned out totally different and more cooler than the thought in my head!  Magic!
